Emancipation

Because of the ambiguity the name Garbo has caused in the branch we move in, we have decided to start the new year with a new name: Pink Pearls Amsterdam! Our web designers have worked hard to transform the site of Garbo Amsterdam into Pinkpearlsamsterdam.com as quickly and smoothly as possible and they’ve done really well, thank you for that!

Network Mirre

By Jolanda Groot

Jolanda Groot and Marianne Welten are the editing staff of the newsletter of Mirre. For 21 years, Mirre has been a network for lesbian women who are interested in religion and spirituality. Jolanda Groot thinks it’s important to, in a time of increasing intolerance, stimulate cooperation between different groups in a loving way. In the Netherlands and in Europe.

By Annelies Hintjes

In this section, we ask lesbian women from all over Europe how they experienced their coming-out. Wanna tell your story? Mail us at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Go Go Festival

By Jolanda Groot

From 17 to 20 June the Go Go Festival takes place in Kent (England). A festival with live performances, international known DJs and the opportunity to fly! But you can also chill, watch comedy and eat and drink. In short: 4 lovely days for the lesbian woman!

Café ’t Mandje

Next year, Café ’t Mandje celebrates its 85-year anniversary. And on 29 April, it’s already 3 years ago that the little café was reopened. Old and new customers dance, sing and play music again like in the old days. And everybody is welcome.

Celebrating diversity in the imperial palace

By Marije Cornelissen

When I got the invitation, I didn’t have to think hard; a gala ball in the Viennese imperial palace! The Sissi fan in me couldn’t say no. I’ve seen the three films at least ten times each, if not more. My only knowledge of German is from Sissi. ‘Er lest mir jeden Wunsch von den Augen ab’. Delightful. And now I was invited to a ball at Sissi’s crib.
